National Railway Freight Volume Reaches 1.299 Billion Tons in First Four Months

From January to April this year, China's national railways transported a total of 1.299 billion tons of goods, a YoY increase of 3.6%. Daily average loading reached 180,000 cars, up 4.7% year on year, providing strong support for the smooth operation of domestic and international dual circulation and ensuring stable national economic operation.
A CR Freight Department official stated that the railway authorities fully utilized the capacities of major freight corridors such as Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway, Tangshan-Baotou Railway, Watang-Rizhao Railway and Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway, continuously ensured outbound coal transport from Xinjiang, and made every effort to guarantee the supply of key materials for the national economy and people's livelihood. From January to April, national railways shipped 672 million tons of coal, including 464 million tons of thermal coal. Coal stocks directly supplied by rail to power plants remained at a high level. Transport volumes of mine construction materials and smelting supplies increased by 29.3% and 10.7% year on year, respectively.
Meanwhile, railway authorities expanded cooperation with shipping companies and developed 119 multimodal "one-bill coverage system" products, shortening transport times and reducing total logistics costs. From January to April, national railways transported 5.381 million TEUs of rail-sea intermodal container cargo, a YoY increase of 19.1%.
In terms of cross-border freight transport, CRE trains maintained stable operations, and Central Asia freight trains ran a total of 4,725 trips, up 21% year on year. The China-Laos railway transported 1.976 million tons of cross-border cargo, a YoY increase of 7.6%, strongly promoting international trade and economic exchanges.
