High-Speed Rail Reaches Tea Villages, Opening a Smoother Path to Prosperity
Every year from late April to mid-May marks the peak season for spring tea picking in Wuyishan, Fujian. At Wufushan Railway Station in Sishiba Town, Shangrao, Jiangxi, long queues form at the ticket gates. Villagers carry large and small bags, ready to board the D2325 train to Wuyishan. Just 17 minutes later, they arrive at Wuyishanbei Railway Station, where special vehicles take them to various tea factories.
"With the high-speed rail, life keeps getting better," say the villagers simply, reflecting the great changes brought by the railway. Since the Hefei-Fuzhou High Speed Railway opened in 2015, Sishiba Town, home to Wufushan Railway Station, has developed new urban areas and adapted local rural tourism. Once isolated mountain villages have now revitalized local resources thanks to the high-speed rail. Smooth village roads, tidy farmhouses and comfortable leisure squares paint a picturesque scene full of vitality and new rural energy.
